Grid-enhanced distributed solar PV
SunPower is deploying small to medium scale “near to load” solar PV projects to address under supply due to grid constraints. It is integrating solar PV supply with grid supply, adopting Vios’ unique “use when you generate” approach to optimise cost and environmental benefits, whilst also ensuring that the least cost supply option is adopted at all times. On-site solar PV also minimises technical losses on delivery infrastructure, further enhancing the project’s climate effect.
SunPower deploys solar PV arrays with minimal storage for clean generation during sun hours – thereby achieving near price parity with grid supply. SunPower is able to achieve this through an improved and more reliable grid supply, itself attained through Vios’ collaboration with project partners to deploy grid enhancing infrastructure to enable more reliable power delivery, creating an optimised blend of solar PV and traditional grid supply.
